why or why not?

There is a correlation between asbestos and a particular kind of lung cancer called mesothelioma. The chances of developing mesothelioma increase dramatically if you are a smoker and you’re exposed to asbestos. However, all of that being said, not every case of this form of cancer can be traced to asbestos exposure. So, no, just because someone has mesothelioma does not mean that it was caused by asbestos.
