Lora, There are alot of factors when it comes to burning fat or weight loss, but here’s the scientific facts… Not to bring all coffee drinkers world to a halt, but black coffee does in and of itself promote fat storage. Now with the sound of coffee cups around the world hitting the floor in shock… It’s nothing you need to cut out cold turkey unless it’s of a great concern to you. (studies found here at What type and how much cream and sugar you put into your white coffee can cause weight gain as well so it’s important to use low glycemic or non cephalic creamers and sweeteners that will aid in your overall weight management plan. Can going off the pill cause weight gain?

I took the pill for 5 years. I didn’t have any weight problems while I used it, more on the contrary. It’s been almost a year and I’m still experiencing problems. I got my period only a few months back and it’s very painful, which was never an issue before I started with the pill. The cycle is also 45-60 days. I always had long cycles of just below 40 days, but this is not normal. I’ve had a very bad year and attributed the excess weight to emotional stress I was going through, but I indeed started putting on weight when I went off the pill and gained most of it after I got my period. It was always quite easy for me to keep my weight under control, but this time it just won’t get off. I’m not looking for excuses, more like additional solutions – if there was an explanation for what my body’s going through and getting that right, it may just as well help me with the weight. I’m 24.

Why did I get sick at the gym?

I ate a steak with 2 scrambled eggs and a weight gainer shake (the shake alone was 1200 calories), and I got to the gym about 40 minutes later. Halfway through, I had to run to the bathroom and puke. Why? Also, instead of going home after that, I kept on doing my routine. Was that a bad idea?

do you have the shake everyday? if so then maybe that wasn’t the case. but if you don’t have that regularly maybe your body could not handle it and rejected it. maybe you could have relaxed for about 10 minutes before starting up again. drink some water. if it happens next time just drink more water to restore your body of it’s loss and see if you’re ok to exercise some more.

Most people do not drink enough water. What happens when you do not drink enough water is that your body goes into what can be referred to as “drought mode”. What this means is that your body is reverting to early human survival mode. What happens is that your body is afraid there will be no more water for a long time. As a result, it saves the water through water weight or water retention. If you want to drop the excess water weight you need to drink water. What happens after a few days (and alot of peeing) it that your body starts to realize there is no drought and it starts to dump the water it does not need to survive. After a few days (and alot of peeing) your system will settle out and your urination will slow down. Your body will begin to regulate itself and you will not retain so much water. So….to lose the water weight drink at least 64 ounces of water each and every day and as stated in an earlier post, watch your salt consumption. GOOD LUCK!!!

To gain weight in a healthy fashion requires eating calorie dense yet nutritious food. An example of a breakfast while on the weight gain diet includes museli, chopped nuts, a banana, milk and fruit juice. Or you could have 2 egg whites with 1 yolk, 3 slices whole grain toast, and 1 glass of fruit juice. A lunch would involve 2-3 rotis, ½ katori rice, 1 serving of dal or whole pulses, 1 serving of curd or any non vegetarian item, 1 serving of vegetable. You are also allowed snacks spaced mid-way between meals, like tea-time in the evening where you could have a fruit milkshake and perhaps a whole grain cheese sandwich. Eat a sensible dinner similar to what I have suggested for lunch. The key to any meal for weight gain is to concentrate on a sensible blend of complex carbohydrates, lean protein, and healthy fats. When attempting to gain weight, it is often beneficial to eat multiple small meals per day, rather than a few large meals. Especially when coupled with exercise, eating multiple small meals encourages your body to use the calories to build lean tissue (muscle). Drink at least 2 glasses of milk each day.
